We are now OPEN!!!
Here is a quick update on what’s going on at J.R. Clarke Public Library.
The move to the temporary location has been enormous, more immense than any of us could have imagined. We are so grateful to those who loaded books, shelves, and boxes and helped us move to the new location. We have appreciated the patience of the community and our patrons. We were hoping to open our doors on Monday, March 15, but unfortunately, it did not happen. On top of such a big move and enormous undertaking of unpacking, sorting, and shelving thousands of books, we ran into some technical issues. We are still without phone service. The librarians have been putting in extra hours to situate and set up the facility to be presentable and functioning. While we have been busy doing the physical labor of setting up the library, we have left the technology work to the professionals.
Please note, all returns have been back-dated to avoid fines, this grace period will be extended through April. If you have books that you want to return during none business hours, feel free to utilize the drop box at our Spring Street location. This is checked daily.
Amongst the challenges of moving a library to a temporary location, finding out, along with the community, that High Street will be closed for 90 days has been an added stressor. We do know there will be limited traffic access on High Street. Please call the village office with questions and concerns surrounding the street work. We will update everyone as we find out. However, the Village has graciously allowed our patrons to park at the Village Office parking lot.
And with much anticipation, we are pleased to announce our doors are now OPEN!
