Summer Reading Program: June 8th – July 18th.
Story Time: Children’s program held every Tuesday for all children ages 3-5 who have not attended Kindergarten. Children are presented with preschool activities, skills, books & crafts with a special share time. Miss Laurie will be taking a well-deserved summer break from Story Time and will be back to kick off fall sessions starting September 1. But the fun doesn’t stop for summer—we’re excited to welcome a new face to Story Time! From May 19 through August 25, Miss Jelissa will be leading the program, bringing fresh energy, stories, and smiles each week. Summer sessions will feature one special Story Time from 10:30–11:30 AM, perfect for keeping the fun going all season long.
*NO Story Time class on Tuesday, July 7th or Tuesday, Juy 14th. Summer classes will resume on Tuesday, July 21st at 10:03.
Epic Wonders Women’s Book Club: Whether you’re a lifelong reader or getting back into books, this is your invitation to connect, reflect, and enjoy the power of a good story. Held on the first Thursday of every month from 10:30 – 11:30 and open to all mature women. Each month we’ll explore a new book (selected by the group as a whole) with thoughtful, lively discussion in a relaxed, judgement-free space.

Weekly Bingo: Join us every Wednesday from June 10th – July 15th for a fun-filled game of BINGO just for kids! Enjoy laughs, excitement, and chances to win small prizes while spending time with friends at the library. Perfect for children of all ages, our weekly bingo games are a great way to add a little extra fun to your summer! No registration required — just come ready to play. (NOTE: NO Bingo on Wednesday, June 17th)
Slime: It’s time to get messy in the best way possible! Join us Thursday, July 2nd at 2pm for a hands-on slime-making adventure where you’ll create your very own colorful, gooey masterpiece to take home. This fun-filled program is perfect for kids who love to experiment, create, and play. All supplies are provided—just bring your imagination! *Registration required
Reading with Murray: Whether you’re a beginner or a bookworm, Murray is a gentle & calm registered service dog who can’t wait to hear your favorite story! He will be here Thursday, July 9th from 3:15-4:15 to wag his tail and cheer you on. Registration is required for a 15 minute time slot. Call the library to register.
Dirt Detectives: Calling all young explorers in grades 1–5! Get ready to dig into the world of dirt, dinosaurs, fossils, and ancient discoveries at our Archaeology Club! Kids will enjoy hands-on activities, excavation fun, and prehistoric adventures while learning about the fascinating world beneath our feet. Mondays from 10:00–11:00 AM starting Monday, June 15. Whether your child loves dinosaurs or just isn’t afraid to get a little messy, this club is sure to be a roaring good time!
J.R. Clarke Trustee Board Meeting: Monday, July 13th at 1pm. Meeting is open to the public and held on the 2nd floor in the Alcove.
Touch a Truck: Get ready for one of the biggest family events of the summer! We are teaming up with the Village of Covington and the Covington-Newberry Historical Society to bring you an unforgettable experience! Climb aboard incredible vehicles, meet the people who operate them, and explore everything from emergency vehicles to big trucks and heavy equipment. It’s a hands-on adventure the whole family will love!
But that’s not all! Enjoy: Live music, Fun local history facts from the Covington-Newberry Historical Society, and Face painting. Make sure you come come hungry! We’ll have delicious food available for purchase from: Buckeye Burgers, Crumbl, and Kona Ice. Bring your family, invite your friends, and spend the day making memories at this community celebration.
Local author presentation: Join us Wednesday, July 29th from 6-7pm for a thought-provoking evening with local author David Fierst as he presents his nonfiction book, Hidden Disgrace. Drawing on extensive historical research, Hidden Disgrace examines commonly accepted narratives surrounding the westward expansion of the United States and the experiences of Indigenous peoples. David Fierst will discuss the research behind the book, explore overlooked and misunderstood events in American history, and share why examining original sources can deepen our understanding of the past. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, enjoy learning from local authors, or are interested in exploring different perspectives on American history, this presentation offers an engaging opportunity to hear directly from the author.
