The J R Clarke Public Library Renovation bid due date and the opening has been extended a week.
Sealed bids must be received at the J. R. Clarke Public Library, 102 E. Spring Street, Covington, OH 45318 no later than 12:00 p.m. noon on Monday, February 15, 2021. Bids received after that time and/or date will not be accepted and will be returned to the bidder unopened. All timely received bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at the J. R. Clarke Public Library Board of Trustees public meeting to be held Monday, February 15, 2021, at 6 pm at the library.
The J.R. Clarke Public Library Board of Trustees is seeking competitive bids from contractors to undertake the proposed renovation of the library. The project consists of selective demolition, minor abatement, and interior construction. General construction includes an accessible lift and new shaft, low-slope roof replacement, hollow metal frames, flush wood doors, vinyl windows, aluminum storefronts and entry doors, hardware, new gypsum board wall, and ceiling assemblies, suspended acoustical ceilings, resilient flooring, carpeting, and interior painting. Work consists of minor structural repairs to wood framing and new structural work at the lift and to reinforce roof framing at new rooftop mechanical units. Plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and communications trades are also included in the project. Bids must include base bid and alternate costs. The project estimate base bid is $971,500 with the following alternates. Alternate 1: $10,800; Alternate 2: $11,500; Alternate 3: $6,400; Alternate 4: $ 20,000; Alternate 5: $3,800.

The name and address of the bidder must appear on the outside of the envelope and the envelope must be marked “BID, Attention: Fiscal Officer Mary Beth Benedict”. The bidder must submit one original and four copies of the bid.
A pre-bid meeting and walk-thru will be held at the Library on January 28, 2021, at 10 am.
The proposed contract will be awarded to the bidder submitting the lowest responsible bid. The award of the proposed contract as well as issuance of a “notice to proceed” is expected to occur no later than March 1, 2021, with the expected date of “substantial completion” scheduled to be Friday, August 27, 2021.
The Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive any irregularities contained in any bid.
