With excitement, we announce the re-opening of the J.R. Clarke Public Library. The Renovation Project, though long, is coming to an end. Our doors will be open Monday, January 31 at 9 a.m.

Included in the Renovation, is a new entrance, which is on the Northside of the building and opens directly to the parking lot. This will be our main entrance, the Spring Street door will be an emergency exit only. Note that the dropbox at the temporary location will no longer be used. Fines will resume on March 1, 2022.

The main level has patron computers and computer tables for those wishing to bring their laptops, including electrical and USB outlets.

The children’s area is still on the third floor, but it has new and exciting features. The Alcove, our Historical Room, also on the third floor, will be closed for a while longer as we continue to prepare it for future use.

While the shelving and general layouts are different on all levels, we are hopeful that these changes will be more accommodating for our patrons.

Among the new layout is a full-functioning kitchen in the basement. This space is available to rent out with a capacity of 100 people.

Our community room also houses our Maker Space, STEAM area, and weekly Story Time Adventures with Ms. Laurie. We will also be re-offering Vicki Hand’s Keep Moving classes on Wednesday and Friday mornings.

We are confident you will be thrilled with the update. However, a few things have been back-ordered due to high demand and low supply. These things will not affect the function of the library.

The J.R. Clarke Public Library Board of Trustees, the Director, and the staff would like to express our gratitude to our patrons and community. This renovation would not be possible without the generous donations, many volunteers, and the patience that the community so graciously extended to us.

Please note that the Keep Moving exercise class will begin on February 9. The classes are Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m.

Story Time Adventures will begin on February 22. There are two sessions available for children ages 3-5 years old. Ms. Laurie’s hour-long Adventures take place at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
