The 2021 Law Enforcement Memorial Service took place on May 5 at 12:00 p.m. at the plaza between the Miami County Courthouse and the Safety Building.

Eight law enforcers made the ultimate sacrifice, giving their lives in the line of duty. Amongst the men and women of Miami County, Marshal Harvey Hake was honored. Marshal Hake was shot and killed on January 12, 1917, while trying to arrest Albert Wallace on charges of assault and battery filed by his wife.

The J.R. Clarke staff and Board of Trustees would like to offer our deepest gratitude to the Covington Police Department and their families. The Covington Police Department has gone above and beyond for our local library.

While out and about, thank an officer. They strive to be peacemakers by upholding law and order in our community. A huge thank you to Cheif Lee Harmon for sharing the Memorial Service information; it was an honor to witness this important Memorial Service.
